I’ve just realised that the blog hit three (almost) significant milestones over the weekend – 400 posts, 1,000 comments and 200,000 page views. Thank you to everyone who reads my (often off-message) ramblings and an extra thank you to those of you who, even more incredibly, stop by to comment as well.

For those of you that are interested, the graphic below shows all of the individual posts which received more than 100 page views during the last quarter – there were 28 such ramblings.

Up until a week or so before the quarter ended, it looked as if my posts about struggling through the MITx 6.002x circuits and electronics course were going to fill all of the top six places on the chart. However, I’d reckoned without the magic of the Raspberry Pi and Python … and a post I’d written in about 10 minutes (it shows) took the top spot by a country mile! This experience has also encouraged me to install some caching software behind the blog … so hopefully, even though my web hosting company has seemingly suffered numerous issues with database performance over the last few months, things will be a bit speedier around here in future.

There’s still a fair few OU related (yellow) and OU module related (green, cyan and pink) posts appearing in the list, with one I wrote about postgraduate provision on the last day of the quarter leaping straight into the hit parade at number 21. If 1st July had counted as well, it would have been comfortably inside the top 10.

An honourable mention (or perhaps a dishonourable mention) goes to a post I wrote about an appalling customer service experience with NS&I in July of last year. It regularly gets a couple of views a day which is why it makes this list. These are usually from people using uncomplimentary search phrases about their online service and the post in question is still attracting comments as well. It seems to me that NS&I still haven’t resolved their usability issues with their online and telephone arrangements. I’m no longer affected as I’ve gone back to dealing with them by post. A bit slower perhaps, but orders of magnitude less frustrating.

Thanks again for visiting – I’m hoping to write rather more about my experiences with the Raspberry Pi over the coming weeks now that I don’t have the distraction of study to keep me amused. Well,  at least until edX starts up that is …
